With how easy it is to get access to camera equipment nowadays and how much video content is out there. There’s really only one thing that differentiates one video from the other. Can you remember what you just watched? I want to make things look different, I want to tell a great story, and if I’m lucky make people laugh. I think I got into this line of work purely because of how much I went to the movie theatres with my dad as a kid and still to this day, It’s my favorite (non-drinking) date night.

Do you know what one of my fondest memories is from going to the movie theatres when I was a kid? The sound of an IMAX theatre would be so loud it would shake your seats. Do you remember the opening sequence from Star Trek when Captain Kirks's dad, sacrifices himself and blows up his own ship to kill a bad guy? Or when Matt Damond takes off of Mars in a spaceship with no roof? I can still remember that feeling. Music and sound play such a vital role in keeping viewers engaged and for me what can make or break a movie. To me, it’s also one of my favorite parts of a movie. This is why I'm very diligent about what music and sound I bring into movies of my own.
How will I accomplish this?
You know it’s funny, my dad would always fall asleep during movies and as a kid, I would think that’s so crazy. How do you fall asleep in a movie theater? Then I went to a really late-night viewing of Fast and Furious 8 and I KO'ed. Movies can’t all be fast cars, beautiful shots, and great music. You need to have a story that keeps you engaged so the viewers remember what you watched. So in order to tell a great story, you need to study great stories and great storytellers. Right now I am practicing the ideas that Matthew Dicks currently teaches and incorporating them into my own stories. I want to make movies and videos that people will remember and maybe even tell their friends about.
I hope we can work together
I’ve had the opportunity to make hundreds of videos for clients, all around Ottawa in a variety of fields. I’ve also made almost 200 of my own mini-movies and posted them on my YouTube channel. I love what I do and I hope we can find an opportunity to work on something together.
